Welcome to Bless What’s Left
Hi, welcome to my website known as Bless What’s Left. I am Paul Wilson and my wife’s name is Judy. We are working together to build a digital ministry for those of us who are “on the back side of the mountain going down!” Judy and I have been married for over fifty years and have served the Lord in several very meaningful settings. We would like to share some of our journey through this blog and website. Come along and join the journey.
I recently retired a second time having completed a year and one-half as the Care Ministry pastor with Woodside Bible Church in Troy, Michigan. Previously, I retired from Moody Theological Seminary where I was a seminary chaplain, associate professor of ministry, and dean of students.
Now that I have “more time,” I want to fulfill a nineteen-year-old vision of creating an online teaching ministry. Some years ago, with the partnership of two close friends, I launched “Know Your Bible Seminars.” KYBS has been useful but largely undeveloped.
So, the new and revised version is being called Bless What’s Left. The theme comes from the realization that a lot of years have passed but there is a future ahead for each of us. While the past may be filled with remarkable experiences, our days ahead are equally important. The Apostle Paul said to “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14. ESV
Bless What’s Left is dedicated to the mission of encouraging each one of us to discover, embrace, and celebrate each new day the Lord gives to us. Moses wrote many years ago in Psalm 90 about growing older midst the challenges of life. He said, “teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Vs.12
His point, as I see it, is to value each day as a gift from the Lord and to invest ourselves fully in serving our Heavenly Father bring honor to our Lord Jesus Christ through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Each of us do not know how many days are left. We can calculate how many we have lived but cannot estimate how many may be left.
Looking back, we might be easily discouraged by what we have lost. The years have taken a toll and each of us have suffered losses. That’s why I’m looking forward to what God has for me today and tomorrow and as many days as He has numbered for me. My prayer for each of us is that God would bless each day with His presence, purpose, and power. The best is yet to come! Lord, Bless What’s Left.
